Lynne Charles

Deputy British Ambassador to

Lynne took up her appointment as Deputy British Ambassador to Bulgaria in September 2018. She joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in 2013, where she has led policy teams in both Prosperity and European Union Directorates.
Prior to joining the Foreign Office, Lynne worked on EU and international issues in a number of UK government departments, including the Cabinet Office (regulatory policy) the Treasury (trade policy) and the Department for International Development (trade policy). Before becoming a UK civil servant, Lynne was an official of the European Parliament (EP), working in its Secretariat in Brussels and then as Head of Public Affairs in the EP’s London Office.
Lynne has an undergraduate degree in History and Politics from Sheffield University; a doctorate in Applied Social Studies from Bradford University and a Master’s in Public Administration from Harvard University.
 

Stefan Stoyanov

Deputy Mayor for Education, Business Development and European Policies, Municipality of Plovdiv

Stefan Stoyanov is the Deputy Mayor for Education, Business Development and European Policies for a third consecutive term at the Municipality of Plovdiv. He works actively for the development and improvement of the local education system, led the team working on the application for European Capital of Culture, and created the first Business Development Unit that has worked alongside him for 10 years on branding the city as a tourist and investment destination. He initiated the digital reform in the municipal schools in Plovdiv, making the City a pioneer in implementing cloud-based technology in education and a leader in adopting the 1:1 learning method in Eastern Europe. In recognition of these projects, the Municipality of Plovdiv has won several international awards, including the American Smart 50 and the European Innovation in Politics. Mr. Stoyanov was ranked among the New Europe 100 change makers in Central and Eastern Europe for 2016 by Google, Visegrad Fund, Financial Times, and Res Publica. With the assistance of the Business Development Unit, he supports new trends in the city,s economy and promotes the IT&BPO industry - responsible for creating thousands of jobs. In addition, he actively participated in the establishment and popularization of Trakia Economic Zone as the Bulgaria's main industrial brand. The Business Development Unit of Plovdiv Municipality is in negotiations with several potential investors at any given time, with one of its most recent enquiries involving an investment of 5 billion euros.
